The Gosainkunda Helambu Trek is one the adventurous short trekking which leads you towards the northern part of the Kathmandu valley and borders of Tibet. As you may know Kathmandu is called a “City Of Temples”. After breakfast you will be guided to various historical places around the city which includes Basantapur Durbar square, patandurabar square, Bhaktapur durbar square, Pashupatinath temple, the famouse monkey temple “Swayambhunath”, Boudhanath Stupa etc. Trek leader will provide some info related to the upcoming adventure.

Early in the morning after breakfast we leaver for Syabrubesi, from where we start our Langtang -Valley Trek. It takes about 7-8 hours to reach our destination. You will get to witness the glorious snow-capped mountains through the ride. Majestic peaks: Manaslu, Annapurna and Ganesh himal will be pn our way. Following the beautiful scenery of foothills, terraced fields and small villages we go through the Trishuliriver. We have a lunch break at the Trishuli Bazar. After lunch we continue our journey to Dhunche. We descend towards the small village Syabrubesi for the overnight stay and end our day 3.

After breakfast we begin our 6-7 hours’ drive to lama hotel. We drive through beautiful Oak and Rohodendron forest; crossing the small Langtang river. We go through Guru Rinpoche Gompa crossing the Suspension Bridge. Afterwards you ascend to Rimche (2400m) to reach our destination. And the day 4 ends with the overnight stay at lama hotel.

We start our journey ascending from the lama Hotel while enjoying the Beautiful landscapes with Waterfalls, The trails becomes steeper as we enter the wild hemlocks, oak and rhodendronforest,we can witness MT Langtang Lirungi (7244m) through the woods. Soon we come across the beautiful meadows of Ghora Tabela (2992m). We ascend through the rhodendron forest and scattered Tamang villages. We come to the settlements of langtang (3430m), headquarter of langtang national Park. We can see Tibetan style flat-roofed houses in this area. You can encounter wild goats and yaks wandering around you. We stay overnight at Mundu.

After breakfast, we ascend towards KyangjinGompa.passsing the steep trails and impressive mani walls. It takes about 4-5 hours. You can see the gompa after crossing some small streams with wooden cantilver bridges and moraines. We reach the holy Buddhist shrine in Kyangjingompa. You will get to taste the milk products and cheese made up of yak’s milk in this region. You can find the famous Government operated cheese factory. After lunch we will be exploring the this area with amazing panoramic views of the snow-capped mountainsof LangtangLirung (7246m), Genjempol, Kyangjin RI (4750m.), Tsergo RI (5000m.), Ganja la (5160m.), Langshisa- Ri (6427m.), DorjeLhakpa (6430m.), Naya Kang (5844m.), Yala peak (5500m).

To acclimatize with the high altitude we spend whole day exploring the Tserko Ri which is 5000m above the sea-level. We pass through the Yak Pastures and ascend to the TserkoRi. We get to witness the stunning sunrise view from the TserkoRi. We get back to the Gompa at the late afternoon and keep exploring the beautiful scenes like The Himaayas, Glaciers, Birds and yaks.

After the morning breakfast we retrace our way towards the lama hotel. We descend down the hill passing through the forests to the beautiful Tamang village. We get to enjoy the fantastic view of the mountain peaks that you had missed on the way up. After lunch we descend towards the lama hotel.

The trail to Thulosyabru is way down along the rivers following the landslide. We need to pass the steep pine and juniper forest and ascend up to the destination. The trails let you witness some of the beautiful wild animals like red panda, boards, monkeys and various species of birds. On our arrival to the destination we can experience the preserved ethnic customs, cultures and tradition of the Tamang Cultural heritage; So called “ThuloSyabruGaun”. Afterwards we enjoy the scenic beauty of the Ganesh Himal (7110m), LangtangHimal and it’s ranges. We keep on exploring the splendid views of the syabru and it’s Landscpes.

We will be gaining high altitude so to adjust with the altitude we will have a slow walks and not to reach the Gosainkunda today. We will reach our destination shortly after 3-4 hours. We will reach at the check point after a short trek. We trail towards the South from the checkpoint passing the Garta Village and Phulung Monastery. We reach Shin Gompa afterwards and stay overnight.

We will ascent to towards the Gosainkunda (5-6 hours) enjoying the panaromic view of The Himalayas which includes Annapurna, Hiunchuli, Manaslu, Ganesh And Langtang. We reach to the Gosainkunda (4380m) through the ridge trail for the most of the parts of the day. The lake carries particular religious and cultural significance for the Nepalese. It is one of the most sought pilgrimage sight. The lake has great view as it is surrounded by mountains. The lake contains a large rock at the center which is said to be the remains of the Lord Shiva. We stay overnight at Gosainkunda.

Today we will have 6-8 hours of treak. We roam around the lake’s bank and gradually ascend towards the LaurebinaPass(4610m) after which the Helambu region begins. We descend towards the melamchi valley crossing the rough trails and moraines which is well marked with cairns. Three more small lakes are on our way before we reach the pass. We ascend to a hill and enjoy a fantastic view of the area. We pass through the suryakunda and finally reach Ghopte for overnight stay.

Day 13 will have 6-8 hours long trek walking up and downhills that makes way through the dense forests. We reach Pati village afterwards. We ascend above the village and witness the beautiful hills around. We reach Mealmchigaon after crossing two suspension Bridges. We stay for overnight at melamchigaon.

We will reach our destination around 5-6 hours. We will pass a stupa just below the tarkeghyang. And cross a small stream. We will ascend upto the AmaYangri(3800m). We get to see Mt Shishapangma and the Langtang Ranges from the top of the hill. After enjoying the view for a while we descend towards the forest. We walk through the yak grazing pasture and stone trails. Shortly we reach Tarkegyang; a Sherpa village. We stay for overnight in this village.

We start our trek shortly after having a breakfast. Today will be 3-5 hours of trekking through the forest and villages. We enter a lush forest passing beautiful villages, chortens, monastery and mani walls and finally reach Sermanthang, which is a beautiful Sherpa village with stunning views of Ganesh Himal, jugalhimal and langtang ranges. We stay for overnight at Sermanthang.
