Commencing trek in the foothill of Annapurna Himal provides an opportunity to visit villages and experience cultural life of simple folks living in hills. The famous Machhapuchhre peak (Matterhorn of Nepal) can always be seen from any point on this trek. Australian Camp is a well known name and has vantage point to see the Himalaya range all around. Another beautiful part of the trip is to see the rural life with the rich culture of the Gurung ethnic group and their tradition.The Australian camp trek is a fairly easy trek in the beautiful foothills of the Annapurna. The trip offers gorgeous views over the valleys and stunning views of the Annapurna Mountain range. This trip can be done all year round and is also very suitable for people without any hiking experience and people of all ages. The highest point is around 2000 meter, thus this is a family trek. It will give you a great impression of the Himalayas in all her magnificence. From sunrise to sunset the colors will keep on changing offering the most incredible views. You will hike through dense forest, along the hillsides and through mountain villages where we will stop for drinks, lunch etc. This trek is suitable for those wishing to experience Nepal mountain scenery and ethnic culture within a short period of time.

Australian Camp set on the beautiful hill top offers striking views over the valleys and stunning views of the Annapurna mountain range. The trail of this trek is very picturesque, with the view of Great Mountain.The trek starts from Dhampus. From here one trek alongside beautiful views of golden rice terraces the vast expanse of the Annapurna Mountain range. In terms of climbing technicalities, it is an easy mountain to ascend. The journey to Dhampus village, one of the paradises of Nepal, begins from Phedi village, nearly a 30 minutes drive from beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. This 2 hours climb dhampus continues through magnificent rhododendron forest nesting various species of birds to the village of Chandrakot, inhabited by the warm-hearted and hospitable Gurung People. During this trek, you will also have an opportunity for a close look at the daily lives of the villagers of the ethnic Gurung people.The walk next day through forest to the Australian camp is also equally scenic. Additional Information

If it’s too much to carry from your home country some of the necessary equipment can be hired or bought in Kathmandu around Thamel as well.
Most of the equipment in general and standard lists for all seasons while on the trek, but may differ as per the season and duration of trekking and areas of your chosen trip.


For head:

  • Sun hat or scarf
  • Light balaclava or warm fleece headgear.
  • Sunglasses and snow goggles with UV protection

 
 For Lower Body:

  • Under Garments
  • Hiking shorts
  • Lightweight cotton long pants
  • Light and expedition weight thermal bottoms

  • Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell pants

 For Feets:

For Upper Body:

  • Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket
  • Down vest and/or jacket 

 For Hands:

  • Lightweight gloves
  • Heavyweight gloves or mittens with a waterproof shell outer (seasonal)

  • Sleeping bag rated to zero DC * (4 seasons down sleeping bags)
  • Headlamp (e.g. Petzl Zoom) with spare bulbs and batteries
  • Trekking Bags/Duffel bag *
  •  Basic First Aid Kit
  • Large plastic bags – for keeping items dry inside your kit/duffel bag.
